# Chillcog Public Source License
Copyright © Chillcog 2026
## Preamble
The Chillcog Public Source License has been created to balance the open-source spirit of learning and collaboration with the protection of original project assets and control over distribution. This license allows users to study, fork, and build upon the project, while restricting unauthorized redistribution and commercial monetization.
## Terms and Definitions
**Owner** - The creator and primary owner of the project repository.
**Authorized Administrator** - Any individual or entity explicitly appointed by the Owner to perform project management and handling of license-related duties on the Owner's behalf.
**The Project** - The software, repository, source code, assets, documentation, and/or other resources protected under this license.
**Internal Contributors** - Individuals officially recognized as part of the core project team who contribute code, assets, or resources.
**Foreign Contributors** - External individuals or community members unofficially contributing code, assets, or resources to the project.
---
### What you *can* do:
* Look at the code, draw inspiration, and copy snippets of it to use in your own projects.
* Fork the project and modify its code.
* Submit contributions, bug fixes, and feature requests to the project.
* Create derivative projects that integrate with or build upon the project and its public APIs.
### What you *cannot* do:
* Claim any of the code and/or other resources from the project as your own property.
* Redistribute the project (either as raw source code or in a compiled/executable format) without explicit written permission from the Owner or an Authorized Administrator.
* Copy substantial sections of the code (such as entire classes or complex methods) and/or resources from the project without providing clear attribution.
* Monetize any part of the project. This includes selling the project's code, resources, or compiled versions, as well as utilizing paywalls, forced subscriptions, or "donations" to restrict access to any parts of the project's content.
* Remove/Modify the header sections that show the original creator, copyright, and other info.
### What you *have to* abide by:
* If your derivative project uses any code and/or resources from this project (excluding public API classes), your project **must** also be visible source. This ensures others can learn from your derivative work.
* Give proper credit (see below) where it is due when copying portions of the code or assets.
---
## Guidelines
### Resources Guidelines
* **Always** give credit to the original artists, designers, and creators.
* **Always** ask for explicit permission before copying standalone project assets (such as artwork, audio, or proprietary data models) for external use.
### Credit Guidelines
* A **visible and clear** credit acknowledgment must be present in the documentation and/or user interface of any derivative project using assets or code from this project.
### Project Contributions
* Original authors retain copyright of their contributed code and/or resources.
* The project Owner is granted non-exclusive, perpetual rights for the usage, distribution, and modification of the contributed code and/or resources.
* Those rights **cannot** be revoked once the contribution is merged. A contributed asset effectively becomes part of the project and is from then on regulated by this license.
* Any code and/or resource submitted via pull requests or contributions **must** be compliant with and licensed under this license.
---
## Summary and Disclaimer
Look at the code and learn from it. Draw inspiration, be creative, and enjoy yourself. Should you find issues, please point them out or submit a contribution to fix them.
In case of questions regarding this license, or to obtain explicit redistribution permissions, please contact the project Owner.
